FAQ

What kind of photographer are you?

I love to capture natural, genuine moments on camera that you can treasure for a lifetime. A more documentary style - taking images that tell your story is my thing.
As a lifestyle photographer, I use prompts rather than poses so your session is relaxed and fun and your photographs are natural. I don’t try to make you look perfect, stiff or unnatural. And I won’t ask you to say cheese.
I deliver a generous gallery of images – because I love to give you the inbetween moments on camera as well....and I understand the investment you are making in your family history and business story telling.

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm based in Whakatāne in the Bay of Plenty and yes, I'm happy to travel to photograph your whānau or pakihi.
Please enquire about a travel estimate.

What should I wear for my photoshoot?

Always choose clothes that you feel great wearing – the confidence and happiness shows in your photos!
Dress in your own style – don’t feel you need something different for photos. Choose your best, favourite, comfortable clothes.

BUSINESS PHOTOSHOOTS – prepare multiple outfits to give you more variety in your gallery. Small changes to accessories can also boost the variety in your gallery. Include clothing that is branded (if relevant to your pakihi).

FAMILY PHOTOSHOOTS - co-ordinate, rather than match, by choosing colours that compliment. For family photos, I’d suggest starting with Mum’s outfit and build around it.
Avoid graphics and florescent colours because graphics tend to go out of style and neon colours show in your skin – you don’t want your kids faces to look yellow or orange!
Make sure clothes fit well – especially for growing kids where we can buy slightly bigger clothes for them to grow into.

We’ve never had a family photoshoot – what are your top tips?

😊 Tell your kids that you’re looking forward to having fun together at the photoshoot.
😊 Arrive 5-10 minutes early so everyone is relaxed and ready.
😊 Make sure everyone’s had a snack/drink/toilet stop first….especially for young kids.

What kind of photos will you take in our family photoshoot?

I’ll photograph you as a whole family together as well as smaller groupings – just parents, just siblings and a variety of combinations (fur-babies included if that’s relevant for your family), as well as individual portraits.

Our fur-babies are part of our whānau – can they be included in our photoshoot?

Yes, pets can definitely be part of your family photoshoot. Do bring treats for them and if needed, someone who can be with your pets while we take some photos.

What kind of photos will you take in our business photoshoot?

I’ll take photos that help you to share your pakihi story with your clients. In your consultation hui, we will make a plan of the photos that you need for social media, webiste updates or publications. Your photoshoot and gallery will be tailored for you and your business.

Where will my photoshoot be held?

It’s your story I’m photographing, so your photoshoot location will vary and be unique.
Your family photoshoot could be at the beach, your home or a special place for your whānau.
Your business photoshoot can be at more than one location – your work, in the community, in my studio [and my studio lighting and backdrop is portable!]
Your headshots, kids milestone photos or special toddler photoshoots will be taken in my studio.
